Natural Resins in Violin Making – Traditional Materials for Outstanding Sound
Natural resins have long been an essential part of violin making. They are valued for their natural properties, contributing significantly to the sound, durability, and aesthetic quality of the instrument. As a key component of varnishes and repair materials, they form the ideal link between tradition and tonal performance.
Our selection of natural resins provides you with pure, high-quality raw materials for professional violin making. We source our resins from trusted suppliers with whom we have worked for many years. These raw materials are harvested sustainably and with great care – ensuring natural, unrefined products you can rely on.
They form the basis for varnishes that give instruments their distinctive tone, expressiveness, and unmistakable sheen. Choose proven materials that combine sound quality with craftsmanship rooted in tradition.

This 99% pure alcohol (denatured with 1% MEK) is ideally suited for dissolving natural resins themselves. This high-quality alcohol ensures the solution has no white gumming (streaks). We also recommend out 99% ethanol for spirit soluble powder colours. For varnishing we recommend approximately 300g-400g resin to 1 litre ethanol. ATTENTION - The 10 liter canister can only be shipped in Germany.
